Lotus sign Marco Sorensen for 2013 FR3.5 season
By
Glenn Freeman from Autosport.com
Lotus Formula 1 junior drivers Marco Sorensen and
Marlon Stockinger will race for the team's Formula
Renault 3.5 outfit in 2013.
Sorensen, who raced for the Lotus-affiliated
Charouz-run team last year, is a new addition to the
junior programme, which is headed up by Lotus F1
team boss Eric Boullier.
The Dane was a frontrunner in his rookie season of
FR3.5, and he believes that only bad luck prevented
him from being a championship contender.
"It's great to be here and I think this association
with Lotus can only be good for my career," said
Sorensen.
"I
had some bad luck while leading in races last year
which meant P5 in the championship when it could
have been more.
"At the end, it all comes down to results. If you
don't perform you won't progress.
"So I'm hoping for a bit more good fortune this year
and looking forward to taking on a new challenge
with the Lotus F1 junior team."
Stockinger, who finished 10th in his second season
of GP3 last year with one victory, is also new
addition to the Lotus junior line-up.
"It's a great feeling to be associated with such a
prestigious team," he said. "I really want to make
the most of it and I am looking forward to wearing
the team colours with pride.
"Of course, every driver wants to win, but I
understand it's a big step moving into a new
category so learning is the most important thing."

Marco Sorensen tops final day of Barcelona
FR3.5 test for Lotus
Marco
Sorensen topped the second day of Formula
Renault 3.5 testing at Barcelona on
Wednesday.
The Dane, who finished sixth in the series
for Lotus this season, stayed with the team
for the two-day test.
His
best time of the day came in the morning
session, when track conditions were better
and all but one of the 25 runners set their
fastest times.
"I ended the season with a retirement so
it's been a real boost for me to have two
days of testing straightaway," said Sorensen.
"In
my head I'm already in 2013, and the aim is
to compete in Formula Renault 3.5 again.
Over these two days we've been able to
identify what had been bothering us in the
last few races."
GP2 race winner Marcus Ericsson was just
0.010s adrift of Sorensen's best in second
place, while Arthur Pic completed a
promising first test for new team AV Formula
by going third quickest overall, and leading
the way in the slower afternoon session.
British F3 racers Carlos Sainz Jr and
Jazeman Jaafar were fourth and sixth for
Carlin, either side of the team's 2012 FR3.5
driver Will Stevens, who was out with DAMS.

Silverstone Formula
Renault 3.5: Rivals sympathise with Marco
Sorensen
The top three drivers in the Formula Renault
3.5 championship have expressed their
sympathy towards Marco Sorensen after the
Dane was robbed of victory at Silverstone by
a late-race puncture.
Lotus driver Sorensen had dominated the
second race of the weekend, leading
throughout until a puncture forced him to
retire with a lap and a half to go.
After the race, title contenders Sam Bird,
Robin Frijns and Jules Bianchi, who all
benefitted from Sorensen's plight, praised
his performance.
Bird, who inherited the win, said: "You've
got to feel for Marco. He was driving very
well and it was difficult to keep with him.
"I feel sorry for him because he drove a
super race. Sometimes you get given presents
and you have to take them, and this was one
for me."
While Bird had battled with a late-race
misfire, Sorensen had spent the whole race
unable to use the DRS on his rear wing. It
was the second time this year he had retired
while leading, after a throttle problem
halted him in race two at Aragon.
Championship leader Frijns said: "Marco
deserved the win. He had no DRS and he was
pulling away. He has been so unlucky this
year which is sad. He's a guy I like to race
against and he deserves more."
Bianchi added: "Well done to Sam, but I'm
sorry for Marco. He did a really good race,
so the puncture at the end was very bad luck."
Sorensen told AUTOSPORT that while he could
take some comfort from the fact that his
performances have impressed, he felt bad for
his Lotus team.
"We are so unlucky, and it's nobody's fault,"
he said. "I'm sure we have lost about 75
points this year.
"I can feel good about my performances
because I have proved what I am capable of,
but I feel bad for the guys in the team.
They give me a good car, they are great to
work with, and then something like this
happens. They are devastated."

Marco Sorensen wins spectacular Spa Formula
Renault 3.5 race
Marco Sorensen won an
action-packed first
Formula Renault 3.5 race of the weekend at Spa.
The
Lotus driver capitalised on a scrap for the lead
between Kevin Magnussen (Carlin) and Sam Bird (ISR)
getting out of hand to make the decisive move, and
then controlled the race from there.
Sorensen ran third in the early stages, staying on
the tail of Bird as he tried to find a way past
polesitter Magnussen.
Magnussen appeared to have Bird under control, but
at the end of the first lap after a mid-race safety
car Bird was able to get alongside on the approach
to the Bus Stop chicane.
Both drivers cut the chicane, with Bird emerging in
the lead. He slowed to let Magnussen re-pass, but
the Carlin driver had clouted a kerb and was slow
down the start finish straight. An opportunistic
move from Sorensen
allowed him to pass both of the leaders into La
Source, and from there he was never headed.
Bird tried
to pass Magnussen on the inside at the Bus Stop a
lap later, and while he completed the pass, both he
and Magnussen went wide, and this time it was Jules
Bianchi (Tech 1) and Robin Frijns (Fortec) who
capitalised to sneak into second and third.
Frijns could not hold Bird off at La Source though,
and after surrendering third place to the ISR driver
the Dutchman then plummeted down the order as car
after car caught him out as he rejoined from going
wide at the first corner.
That left Sorensen leading Bianchi and Bird, which
would remain the order to the finish. But
fourth-placed Magnussen's drama was not over, as
three laps from the end he was hit up the back by
DAMS' Arthur Pic at La Source, forcing him to retire.
Pic fell to 15th, leaving former champion Mikhail
Aleshin fourth for RFR after Frijns had been
shuffled back another three places shortly before
that.
Aleshin had to fight hard to keep Draco's Nico
Muller at bay to the finish, while Frijns came
across the line seventh, behind Jake Rosenzweig (ISR).
There was more drama further down the field on the
final lap, with Daniil Move the big loser in a messy
final corner. The Russian had been on course for a
top 10 finish for P1, but he ended up 14th in the
melee.

Lotus fastest at Barcelona
test
The Circuit de Catalunya was the scene for
the official two-day test for the World Series by
Renault. Czech team Lotus was consistently among the
fastest and its drivers Richie Stanaway and Marco
Sorensen set the two fastest times of the afternoon
session on the second day.
Both
days in Barcelona were hampered by rain – and only
Tuesday afternoon offered the possibility to run on
slick tyres. The wet track caused many off-track
excursions and Richie Stanaway was one of the
casualties just before the end of Day 1.
Marco Sorensen was the faster of the two Lotus
drivers with the fourth quickest time on Tuesday
morning while Richie Stanaway was just two tenths
back in fifth. The Dane was also faster in the
afternoon with the second quickest time, while the
Kiwi was sixth.
The rain got even worse on Wednesday, and Sorensen
posted the third quickest time in the morning
session with Stanaway seventh. The afternoon saw
both Lotus drivers attack. Stanaway led the session
throughout while Sorensen set the second fastest
time half an hour before the end. The Lotus team was
happy to end the test with its two cars on top.
Lotus thus finished the pre-season test in the best
possible way. The results reflected not only the
excellent performance of the two drivers, even
though both are rookies in the category, but also
that of every single member of the Czech Lotus team,
which clearly shows their ambition for the upcoming
season. The team will also take part in the last
pre-season test at Motorland Aragon.
Richie
Stanaway: “We had a very good Wednesday after an
unfortunate end to Tuesday’s session. The rain
complicated things on both days, so we focused our
efforts on wet weather set-up. All in all it was a
good test, especially Wednesday afternoon. Of course
I am very happy with the fastest time. Now we must
focus on next test at Motorland and the first races
that follow.”
Marco Sorensen: “It was raining a lot on Wednesday
morning and the session was interrupted several
times like the first day. We tested the set-up of
our car a lot and I only drove the last 30 minutes
of the last session. We tried to do a quick lap on a
new set of wet tyres and it was good enough for
second place, which is a great result for the team.
It could have been even better from my side but I
think we are all very happy anyway.”
Bob Vavřík: “We are very happy with both days. We
are able to set consistent times and be in the top
five and we finished the last session with the two
fastest times. Traffic and conditions out there
played some part and in this situation you need a
bit of luck. However, it does not hide the fact that
we have been working hard over the whole winter and
now is the time to reap the rewards. My thanks go to
all the members of the Lotus team.”

Lotus joins forces with Gravity-Charouz to race in Formula
Renault 3.5 Series
Lotus
has joined forces with Gravity-Charouz Racing to compete in the 2012
Formula Renault 3.5 Series.
The team will race under the Lotus name and with a Czech license.
New Zealand's Richie Stanaway and Danish driver Marco Sorensen will
be at the wheel of Lotus' two black and gold Formula Renault 3.5
single-seaters.
Lotus' stated ambition is to win races and finish in the top three
of the drivers' and teams' standings.
Stanaway is the reigning German Formula 3 champion. The 20-year-old
won a GP3 race last year with Lotus-ART, despite contesting just two
race weekends.
"I met the team for the first time during the post-season tests at
the end of last year," said Stanaway. "I was very impressed with the
operation and the many changes that have taken place within the team
and felt very comfortable with them.
"In 2012, we will be happy to represent Lotus, which also competes
in Formula One. There will be a big battle in Formula Renault 3.5,
as it's shaping up to be a very competitive series and I am really
looking forward to it."
Marco
Sorenson, 21, finished runner-up to Stanaway in German F3 last year,
and has also tested the outgoing FR3.5 car.
"I am very optimistic after last year's test," said Sorensen. "We
have the support of Lotus and that's great. I am looking forward to
the new single- seater, which will be more powerful compared to last
year's specification. I can't wait for the beginning of the season."
The Czech team entered the series last year, finishing seventh in
the standings and taking three podiums with Brendon Hartley.
Lotus's support of Gravity-Charouz follows its backing of teams in
Formula 1, IndyCar, GP2, GP3, German F3 and German Formula Masters,
as well as in GT racing, LMP2 and rallying.
Claudio Berro, director of Lotus Racing commented: "After entering
Formula One, GP2, GP3, the FIA World Endurance Championship and
rallying, Lotus has confirmed its brand commitment to motorsport by
joining the World Series by Renault.
" This is an important project for us. In every series we enter, we
have strong drivers, a good background, and we aim to achieve the
highest positions.
"Here we have a great driver line-up and are looking forward to an
interesting and thrilling season. I think both Richie and Marco have
a good chance of getting into F1 in the near future.
"The team was encouraged by their performance and reliability over
the course of the post-season tests, which they managed without much
experience of the car. We have plenty of confidence in them."
Lotus' FR3.5 line-up will make its debut in the new Zytek powered
Dallara T12 during the World Series test at Paul Ricard in France on
13-14 March.

Marco Sorensen tops Formula Renault 3.5 test at
Catalunya, Barcelona
Formula 3 graduate Marco Sorensen was quickest of
everybody for Gravity-Charouz on the two days
Formula Renault 3.5 testing at Catalunya.
The 21-year-old Dane, who was runner-up in this
year's German F3 Championship and also won at
Silverstone in a one-off Euro Series appearance, set
a best time of 1m32.815s in the morning session to
pip FR3.5 regular Arthur Pic's P1 car by 0.035
seconds.
Comtec driver Adrain Quaife-Hobbs completed the top
three.

Marco Sorensen claims first Euro Series victory on
his debut weekend
Marco Sorensen claimed his maiden F3 Euro Series on
his first weekend in the series.
Marco
Sørensen (Mücke Motorsport) crowned his guest drive
in the Formula 3 Euro Series with victory in the
second race at Silverstone. At the 5.901 kilometres
long Silverstone circuit, he finished ahead of the
two Spaniards Daniel Juncadella (Prema Powerteam)
and Roberto Merhi (Prema Powerteam), who ended up
second and third respectively. In the Formula 3 Euro
Series drivers' standings, Merhi is now 72 points
clear of his main rival Daniel Juncadella.
From second place on the grid, Danish driver Marco
Sörensen, already overtook Kimiya Sato (Motopark),
who started from pole position, at the start. Daniel
Juncadella also overtook the Japanese on the opening
lap. A brief safety car intervention followed after
Alon Day (HS Engineering) got stuck on his starting
grid position. During the ten race laps, Sato was
also overtaken by Roberto Merhi, who moved up
through the ranks from the fourth row on the grid to
a podium finish. Sato was classifed fourth.
The race was less positive for Marco Wittmann (Signature)
and Felix Rosenqvist (Mücke Motorsport). Both came
off the track in the opening stages, dropped back to
the end of the field and finally had to make do with
seventh (Rosenqvist) and tenth place (Wittmann).
Marco Sørensen (Mücke Motorsport): "Of course, I am
happy having won the race. When the safety car was
deployed, I was already disappointed, because I lost
my advantage like that. Moreover, having two Prema
cars behind me wasn't really comforting. But I was
able to keep the gap."
Daniel Juncadella (Prema Powerteam): "I am very
happy with second place, particularly as I am
getting the points for victory, because Marco isn't
eligible to score as a guest driver. This time, my
start was good, I made it up from sixth to second.
Eventually, Marco was just a little bit quicker."
Roberto Merhi (Prema Powerteam): "At the start, I
had a problem with the clutch, but I was able to
claim back the places I had lost in the next few
corners. I drove really aggressively to move up as
quickly as possible. At the end, I just brought it
home behind Marco and Dani. A podium finish from
eighth place on the grid is quite all right."

Marco Sorensen wins at Euro Speedway.
The
Danish race driver Marco Sorensen won Saturdays race
of this weekend’s German F3 championship at Euro
Speedway in Germany. From a starting position tree,
Marco got a fantastic start and was already at the
front before the first corner, and here he stayed
until the checkered flag. The race counts for the
German Formula 3 Championship, where Marco, together
with his Team Brandl Mercedes Racing, currently is
on an overall second place.
Marco says from Germany, that he is proud of the
result. The day started otherwise problematic. I had
to change my transponder in the middle qualifying.
This meant that I had to stay in the pit for almost
15 minutes. When I finally came along, there was a
yellow flag, and no option to set a time. I only got
one free lap, but that still held out for third
place. The race itself was just perfect. I knew it
was important to put the pressure on from the start.
My start was just perfect, and I could accelerate
into the front even before the first corner, says
the young Dane.

Marco L. Sorensen again on the podium in the German Formula
3 Championship
The
Danish racedriver Marco L. Sorensen finished second in the
Sunday's main event at Red Bull Ring in Austria in the
battle of the German Formula 3 championship. After a good
start from the front row, he could really put a pressure on
the man starting from the first spot, Richie Stanaway. After
some very close racing in the beginning of the race, Marco
finally had to settle for the second place.
Marco says that he knew that this would be a difficult
weekend in Austria. I have never tested or driven at the
track before this weekend, and since we don´t have a
second-driver in the team to help collect data, then we knew
it was going to be difficult. Especially against the big
teams, as they have up to three drivers to collect data
from. But anyway I am happy with the result, and I expanded
my lead down to the third place. Unfortunately it was Richie
Stanaway, which also leads the championship, who won the
race. I just did not have enough speed in the car so I could
put pressure on him. It is particularly our lack of testing
during the season that is now beginning to cause problems. I
still have a chance to win the championship, and since the
remaining races are all on tracks that I know, I still think
it is possible.
The next race is at Euro speedway south of Berlin in early
September.

Marco Sorensen twice on the podium in Zolder, Belgium
It
also turned out well for the young Danish race driver Marco Sorensen
in the second race in the German F3 championship at Zolder, Belgium.
The race was won by Tom Blomquist from England. The championship
leader Riche Stanaway finished fifth in the race. Marco is now at an
overall second place in the championship, and with four race
weekends left the championship is still wide open.
Marco said from Belgium that it has been a difficult weekend. I
clearly had not expected to be on the podium twice this weekend.
Thursday was our first time on the track ever, and we never had
either tested or driven here before. This is in contrast to my
nearest competitors, who have tested a lot here. Therefore we knew
it would be difficult race. We started from scratch with the setup,
and with only two 35-minute test sessions, then we had to work
concentrated in the pit. I owe my team Brandl Racing a big thanks
for their constant focus on getting the job done.
The
German championship is run over nine race weekends across Europe,
and has previously been won by Michael Schumacher and the eight time
Le-Mans 24 Hour winner, Tom Kristensen, also from Denmark.

Marco Sorensen got a dream weekend at his favorite track
“Spa”
The 20-year-old racedriver Marco L. Sorensen from Denmark
had a dream weekend at the Formula 1-track Spa in Belgium.
Two
pole-position, one victory, one second place and two fastest
laps. So there were almost maximum points to the young
Dane. The many points means that Marco now moves to the top
of the Championship table, just four points behind the
leading New-Zealander Richie Stanaway.
After the first victory in Friday's race 1, started Marco
Sorensen again from pole position for Saturday's race.
Because of an overheated clutch didn’t Marcos car move out
of place, and when it finally got started, then fifteen
competitors already had passed.
From there it was hard work for the young Dane. But after 30
minutes with sublime driving techniques, had he driven
himself up to the tail of the leading car. Along the way he
managed to put the fastest lap time as was 0.7 seconds
faster than the second-fastest.
Marco says from Belgium:
-
It's been a super weekend. Spa Franco champs is simply my
favorite track. I also won the race last time her when i
drove a Formula Renault, but that it would be such a success
this weekend did i not expect.
- When we arrived here Wednesday it was my first time at Spa
in a Formula 3 car. These are some really important points
in the overall championship, as we got her. I owe Brandl
Racing Team a huge thanks for their good work. We just have
a perfect team and the team is working really good in all
areas.
Next race is next weekend at the Sachsenring racetrack in
Germany by Chemnitz |

Marco won the race1 in F3 on the Formula 1 circuit
in Spa.
The
Danish race car drivers Marco Sorensen won today’s
race of the German Formula 3 Championship. The race
was held Friday afternoon at the famous Formula 1
track at Spa in Belgium. Marco started the race from
pole position, and here he remained until the
checkered flag. The distance down to the nearest
driver on the secund place was 5.3 seconds.
Marco said that the car just drove perfect right
from the first lap and then I was able to quietly
extend my lead playing the game the rest of the
race. The team has really done a good job, and the
last few days they have worked late into the night
with the
latest
updates on the car. It is the team, Brandl Racing
using Mercedes engines, best result ever. So team
boss Dieter Brandl was himself on the victory podium
to be awarded the trophy as best team.
Already a Saturday morning run next section of the
championship, and here starts the young Dane again
from pole position.

Marco Sørensen in the top of German ATS Formula 3
Cup
With a second and third place in this weekend’s two
races in the
German
ATS Formula 3 Cup the 20 years Danish racing driver
Marco L.
Sørensen proved to be one of the favourites to the
championship. The race took place at the
German racetrack Motorpark Arena in Oschersleben
west of Berlin. Marco is driving for the German team
Brandl Racing that uses Mercedes engines The result
was the best that the team has achieved ever, and he
is now second in the championship.
Marco
says that he is incredibly happy about the result
and that he never expected to be so far at this
moment. We came here almost without any test. We
have not yet been testing so much that we could wish
and as most teams have been testing a great deal
exactly at this race track I knew that it would be
difficult. This weekend we worked constantly at the
car and with great help from the team, who did an
amazing job, could we constantly increase the speed
and consequently achieve the good result.
The next race will take place in a fortnight on the
famous Formel 1 race track Spa Franco Champ in
Belgium.

Marco go to German Formel 3 in 2011
Photo:
Marco Sorensen when testing for Brandl Racing.

The former Renault development driver Marco L.
Sorensen has signed up with the German Formel 3 team
Brandl Merceds Racing. This year Marco has made four
races for the team and he ended with a top result.
This result has now cleared the way for the new
contract for driving the entire German Formel 3
series in 2011.
Many drivers before Marco have
used the German Formel 3 as a springboard to Formel
1. Michael Schumacher who is the world’s most
winning Formel 1 driver has earlier won the
championship.
Marco says that it was a big
surprise when one year ago Renault’s Formel 1 team
decided to close down their RDD program. I was
caught on the wrong foot and I did not have a plan B
ready. Most contracts were already signed and most
seats were occupied for the 2010 season. It was a
catastrophe for my carrier. The people around me had
to work at full throttle in order to find a
solution. Luckily a small newly started team in the
German Formel 3 championship by the name of Brandl
Mercedes Racing still had a vacant seat. They
offered me this seat until they could find a driver
with a budget. I succeeded in driving four races for
Brandl Mercedes before a driver with a sum of money
came and took over my seat. In the last race for
this team I proved my worth by setting the car on
pole position and achieve a top result. So it was
with mixed feelings both for me and the team to
leave the seat to another driver, but the team owner
Dieter Brandl was convinced - and was not in doubt
that Marco Sorensen was going to drive his car in
the 2011 season.
Team owner Dieter Brandl says
that he is happy to be able to keep a great talent
like Marco Sorensen in the team and that it is a
pleasure working with him. Beyond a great technical
knowledge and experience Marco Sorensen also brings
his personality to the team. The motivation is high
and we are sure that Marco Sorensen is one of the
candidates to this year’s edition of the German
Formel 3 ATS Cup.

Marco Sorensen
first pole for Mercedes
 (27.08.2010)

situationen.
teams lige under Formel 1 .
faktor i hans videre karriere forløb.

Marco
da han kun nåede, at få to testdage inden sæson starten.
over tyve.
Marco
I første heat brød

Marco Sørensen tester Renault 3.5 World Series.
Renaults Formel 1 lærling tester tirsdag i denne uge en Renault 3.5
World Series.
i Alicaniz i Spanien.

300 km/timen.

A big first for Sorensen |
After
a fine start from pole position, Marco Sörensen (Motopark
Academy) drove to victory for the first time in Eurocup
Formula Renault 2.0, in this his first season in the
category. The Danish driver crossed the finish line ahead of
team-mate Adrian Quaife-Hobbs (Motopark Academy) and Albert
Costa (Epsilon Euskadi). With a sixth place finish, Antonio
Felix de Costa (Motopark Academy) stays on top of the
overall standings just two points ahead of Albert Costa.
Following race 1, Kevin Magnussen (Motopark
Academy) got a four-position grid penalty for unsporting
track behaviour, so he dropped back from 2nd to 6th for the
start. This left his countryman Marco Sörensen (Motopark
Academy) to share the front row with British team-mate
Adrian Quaife-Hobbs (Motopark Academy).
The two men completed lap one in the same
one-two order, ahead of Kuba Giermaziak (Motopark Academy),
Albert Costa and Miki Monras (SG Formula). Meanwhile, Kevin
Magnussen, Arthur Pic (SG Formula), Nathanaël Berthon
(Epsilon Euskadi), Carlos Munoz (Epsilon Euskadi) and Daniel
Mancinelli (One Racing) all fell victim to race incidents in
the first lap. Munoz and Mancinelli had to retire, and
Magnussen, Pic and Berthon found themselves at the back of
the field. |
|
|
Up front, Marco
Sörensen applied himself to containing Adrian Quaife-Hobbs.
Albert Costa was moving through the field and looking an
increasing threat. The Spaniard got past Giermaziak into third,
then started to come back on Sörensen and Quaife-Hobbs. The
fight for fourth place was looking equally contested. Kuba
Giermaziak had to keep an eye on Miki Monras and Antonio Felix
da Costa, looming closer and closer in his rear view mirrors.
Behind
leader Marco Sörensen, positions were seriously bunching up. The
first six cars were all inside three seconds as the chequered
flag approached. The final stages also saw Jean-Éric Vergne
press to catch up ground. In an attacking move, the Frenchman
got past Nico Müller (Jenzer Motorsport) and Nigel Melker (MP
Motorsport), moving up to 8th place, before slipping back into
10th place.
There was more
excitement when Miki Monras overtook Kuba Giermaziak to take
fourth place. In spite of the best efforts of Albert Costa in
the final laps, the race order didn’t see further changes. So
Marco Sörensen took his first win this season in Eurocup Formula
Renault 2.0, finishing ahead of Adrian Quaife-Hobbs and Albert
Costa. Antonio Felix da Costa and Albert Costa stay locked in
battle at the top of the overall standings. Antonio Felix da
Costa leaves Hungary just two points ahead of Albert Costa.
Quote, unquote:
Marco Sörensen:
“It’s been a fantastic weekend. Two pole positions and one win –
I wasn’t expecting this success so early in the season. I was on
the pace from the very start back on Thursday, but I didn’t know
if it would hold out all weekend. Everything went perfectly in
qualifying and in the race today … I want to savour it a
little.”
Adrien
Quaife-Hobbs: “The weekend has been very competitive. We were
running very well in collective testing, but things didn’t go so
well in qualifying. The race was interesting today, but I was
never in a position to attack Marco. This podium comes at a very
good time, before my home leg at Silverstone.”
Albert
Costa: “Coming into this weekend, we had been clearly
under-performing compared to my rivals. We broke an engine
yesterday, and everyone in the team has put in lots of work to
make the car competitive today. This podium finish is a reward
for all the team. I’m just two points behind Antonio Felix da
Costa… it’s close.”

Sörensen creates a sensation |
Marco
Sörensen (Motopark Academy) takes both pole positions in the Hungary
round of Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0. In so doing, the Danish driver
underlines the excellent form of the Motopark Academy team. Only
Jean-Eric Vergne (SG Formula) managed to get in among the German team’s
drivers, producing the second best time in qualifying. For Sunday’s race
2, the first two rows on the grid will be 100% Motopark Academy.

Group
A:
Group
A drivers awaited the final minutes of the session before going on the hunt
for the quickest qualifying times. Patrick Kronenberger (Iquick Valencia)
and Nico Müller (Jenzer Motorsport) were first to produce significant lap
times. Carlos Munoz (Epsilon Euskadi) took over with a time of 1’43’’849,
only to be bettered by team-mate Albert Costa (Epsilon Euskadi) in
1’43’’562. However the Spaniard was himself overhauled right at the end of
the session by Adrian Quaife-Hobbs (Motopark Academy) and Arthur Pic (SG
Formula). The British driver went to top of the timing screens with a
1’43’’352 lap, to finish ahead of the Frenchman and Albert Costa. Kuba
Giermaziak (Motopark Academy) took fourth and Nathanaël Berthon (Epsilon
Euskadi) fifth.
Group B:
Group B drivers also waited a
long time before venturing out on track. As the first lap times were
recorded, Jean-Éric Vergne found himself at the top of the timing charts.
With a lap clocked in 1’43’’436, the Frenchman was ahead of Antonio Felix da
Costa (Motopark Academy), Miki Monras (SG Formula) and Adam Kout (Krenek
Motorsport). The red flag had to be brought out following an incident that
immobilised Daniel De Jong (MP Motorsport). The drivers were able to restart
in time for a final assault. The only notable improvements were made by
Kevin Magnussen (Motopark Academy) and Miguel Otegui (Epsilon Euskadi). The
two drivers moved up to third and fourth respectively, behind Jean-Éric
Vergne and Antonio Felix da Costa.
SuperPole:
The Motopark Academy drivers
set the pace as the session got underway, with Antonio Felix da Costa
leading from Adrian Quaife-Hobbs, Kevin Magnussen and Marco Sörensen. Many
of the competing drivers chose to wait patiently in the pits before taking
to the track only late into the session.
The final five minutes proved decisive. Jean-Éric Vergne (SG Formula) was
first to upset the order and - for a fleeting moment – sat on provisional
pole, only to be ousted by Marco Sörensen with a best lap of 1’43’’018. The
Dane continued to push hard in his following laps and managed to win himself
pole position for race 2 as well! In the last lap of the session, Kuba
Giermaziak pulled himself up to third place.
Quote, unquote:
Marco Sörensen: “It’s
incredible, I wasn’t expecting this at all! I’m shaking I'm so excited!
Since the start of the season, I haven’t been able to use the new tires
properly. We found the solution and it works. It’s really superb.” |

Renault køre Marco L. Sørensen fire på Hockenheim.
Renaults Formel 1 lærling, Nordjyden Marco L. Sørensen kørte i denne

tilrette i bilen.
utroligt tæt i toppen.
Næste weekend deltager Marco i Formel Renault Euro cuppen, som køres
på Formel 1 banen Spa i Belgien |

Kanon test for F1 lærling, Marco Sørensen
Renaults F1 lærling Marco Sørensen testede i tirsdags i en World
Spanien.

Fornuftig debut til F1 lærling, Marco Sørensen i Formel Renault 2.0
Renaults Formel 1 lærling Marco Sørensen havde i påsken debut i Formel
Renault 2.0 i NEC serien.
mig godt.

medierne.

Formel 1 team.
Kontrakten betyder at Marco bliver fast tilknyttet Renaults Formel 1 team i
Verdensmesterskaber.
kontrakten allerede i oktober i Geneve i Schweiz, men måtte først offentliggøre
Marco skulle her
21. oktober2008 i Geneve i Schweiz.

forskellige idrætsgrene i dansk idræt.

Stuttgart i Sydtyskland.
fjerdeplads i anden tidtagning.
I andet heat
desværre at Marco kunne tage fuldt hus.

Marco vandt igen i tysk Formel Master.
Marco
Sørensen beviste igen for sine tyske fans, at hans sejr for to uger
måtte skuffet køre i pit.
